Annie Marleau has
a fresh and unique sound, which sets her apart from
other female artists today. Her engaging voice immediately
draws in her listeners and her hauntingly sensual
vocal delivery is versatile enough to cut through
a pounding guitar riff or float over a quiet ballad.
Distinctive influences of singer/songwriters Alanis
Morissette, Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow can
be heard in her style, but make no mistake she is
clearly paving her own road.
Annie's music has been
described as "unique indie pop material with
a strong adult contemporary influence". Her
songs have passion, power and range and her lyrics
are intelligent with deep meaningful messages. She
has a natural talent for creating songs with catchy
melodies and memorable hooks that linger in your
mind long after you've heard them. When asked to
describe her own personal writing process, Annie
describes it as “a feeling she has about something
or someone close to her heart which then evolves
into a melody or lyrics and eventually into a song".
She takes a heartfelt, introspective and spiritual
approach when writing the majority of her lyrics
and music. While other times, she writes songs such
as Addicted and Move On, just for the fun of it.
Many of her lyrics are story driven, which give
them real impact and leave her listeners with something
they can identify with.
Annie’s debut
CD Alive was released on January 11, 2006 and consists
of songs ranging “from emotive mellow, to
bright and biting rock”. Her single Addicted
has been receiving much attention, and has been
in the number one spot on the IAC (Independent Artists
Company) Alternative Pop Rock charts for the past
4 weeks.
