Ashley McBryde, winner
of the State of Arkansas, Colgate Country Show Down
song writing contest in 2004, released her first
CD January 6, 2006 in Memphis, Tennessee at Neils
Bar and Grill on Madison Avenue.
Ashley was raised in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas,
and resides in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where she is
a senior music major at Arkansas State University.
Ashley began playing the mandolin at age four,
and was given her first guitar at age nine. Three
years later, she wrote her first song, Fight the
Flames. Now, at age twenty-two, she has written
hundreds of songs. Ashley has compiled her favorite
songs and recorded them on her self-titled CD.
After playing her music live in the Memphis music
scene for the past eight months, Ashley has developed
quite a large following. With a combination of cover
songs and original music, her fan base grows with
each show. Ashley McBryde, who has the nickname
of Ashley Guitar, started to e-mail her friends
of her upcoming gigs. In only eight months, the
list has grown from 30 to over 450 entries.
Her original lyrics and stage presence have attracted
fans of all ages. Her CD features her playing the
acoustic guitar and lyrics that paint a picture
way beyond her years. Ashleys music can make people
tear up, or light their eyes up with joy. Shes had
people dancing when there was no dance floor and
captivated the audiences attention when conversation
once filled the room.
Her musical style is country with a touch of Alison
Krauss tempo, Sarah McLachlans story telling, and
Dwight Yoakams unique approach. Her voice is a mixture
of Tammy Wynettes rasp and Terri Clarks strong vocal
