A timeless lead vocal,
infectious enthusiasm, and an admirable dedication
to her goal is what Lara Gatling has to offer. With
a voice comparable to that of Natalie Maines of
the Dixie Chicks and influences such as Beth Hart,
Fleetwood Mac and Sheryl Crow, singer/songwriter
Lara Gatling has created a country-tinged, pop-rock
sound that speaks to crowds of all ages and from
all walks of life. Her energy bounces from her music
to the crowd where fans become intoxicated with
her rich voice. Born and raised on the Eastern Shore
of Maryland, in the town of Rock Hall, Lara's life-long
goal has been to play and write her own music. While
making her way across the country, she did just
that. Lara taught herself to play guitar and write
her own songs, and finally moved to Los Angeles
in January of 2000. Once she arrived, she played
acoustic shows, built her fan base and gained experience
by performing live. In 2002, Lara pieced together
a band, and over the course of a year they played
many venues all around Los Angeles. Lara's passion
and energy has spilled off the stage to packed venues
such as The Whisky A Go-Go on the world famous Sunset
Strip and many other Los Angeles clubs. She possesses
a drive that will lead her into the radios of people
all over the world where she will be recognized
not only as a musician, but also as a woman with
incredible spirit and ambition. Lara has had the
privilege of working with many incredible musicians
including Leon Rubenhold (backed up Blues Legends
such as John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Reed, Taj Mahal,
and Bo Didley; Toured with Wilson Pickett and James
Brown; Opened three nights in Wash. D.C. with Bobby
Womack for The Rolling Stones Tour), Steve Stephens
(drummer for Janet Jackson's tour, LaToya Jackson,
and The Platters), Janet Robin (guitarist for Meredith
Brooks, Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac and
was a member of the band Precious Metal), Garrison
Starr (signed artist to Vanguard Records). In 2004
Lara had the opportunity of opening for one of her
music icons, Beth Hart, who claims Lara is "one
of my favorite singers. I can see that she believes
in herself and not many singers are able to portray
that while performing". Such opportunities
have undoubtedly helped Lara grow as a musician
and have inspired her to continue moving forward.
Lara has also recorded with Michael Raphael (who
was a member of the band Neve, worked with Linkin
Park, Michelle Branch, and has also toured with
music legends KISS). While recording, Michael proclaimed
Lara as "the best singer I've had in my studio".
In 2003, Lara was featured on the cable show "Stephanie
Jaeger's Celebrity Showcase" which led her
to her current manager/producer, Jimmi Mayweather.
Jimmi has worked with such artists as Bonnie Raitt,
Rod Stewart and many other music legends. Now working
with Lara as his personal project, they are currently
in the studio recording and writing new material.
