Singer/Songwriter Sabine
Meg Pfeiffer – known as Meg to friends and
family - was born in Halle on September 1st, 1983
growing up in a small village nearby the capital.
Although known primarily as a Singer and Songwriter,
Meg's musical background also includes playing guitar
and piano in many different genres such as classic,
jazz and pop.
The Beginning:
Meg always wanted to become a singer and songwriter.
Therefore, she took lessons in guitar by age eight.
Her ambition when she was a little girl was to be
able to express her innermost and her experiences
with music. She started writing poems by age ten
which she set to music just right away accompaning
herself with her guitar.
"Everyone I was surrounded by inspired me
in different ways." she says. "From early
childhood onwards, I always enjoyed singing and
accompaning myself with my guitar. When I was young
I started recording my first songs with a little
cassette recorder and it made me so proud with being
able to hear myself.”
She left her home when she was sixteen and moved
to a boarding school, where she got her advanced
musical education. She took classes in singing,
music theory and also music history to improve her
abilities. She also participated choir from fifth
grade until her last year at school.
The time at boarding school “Landesschule
Pforta” from 1999 until 2004 was a very exciting
time for Meg, especially her time abroad in USA
where she attended an American High School. She
participated in choir and other music classes and
she was invited to perform infront of “Ponderosa
High School”, where she won an award for best
singer.
In 2001 she returned back to Germany to take her
Abitur.
Her Career:
At the beginning of July 2004 Meg managed to travel
and to live in New York. Travelling abroud of Germany
and getting to know different ways of life is one
of her greatest hobbys.
“She loves her independence. She feels free
and she doesn’t care what people think about
her. She just does what she wants.” her best
friend says. Her stay in another country was a great
experience for her to figure out what the next great
step in her career would be.
Meg joins her new band this year, who are already
planning several concerts. Her new songs that she
wrote over the last few months are dedicated to
many close people with whom she went through either
a good or a bad time.
Meg recorded her new song “Greatest lie”
in between her overseas travels. She moved to Dresden
when she was twenty-one. While she attends the University
in Dresden, she keeps on working on her Promotion
CD with her band. Meg combines her soft Popmusic
with parts of Jazz, influenced by Diana Krall, Fiona
Apple and Sting.
